Jazz Point Ibiza · 2025
The sixth edition of Jazz Point Ibiza ran from 16 to 20 October 2025, bringing together an outstanding lineup of international jazz masters and local talent across five days and some of the island's most celebrated venues. Billed as the most ambitious edition yet, the festival featured seven live concerts, masterclasses, and a rich collision of musical cultures that underlined Jazz Point's growing reputation on the European jazz calendar.
The festival opened on Thursday evening at WOM Radio Café in Santa Eulària with the now-traditional Jazz Point Jam Session, led by musical director Andrés Coll and featuring an exceptional ensemble of international musicians arriving for the festival: Tal Cohen on keyboard, Doug Weiss on upright bass, Omar Kabir on trumpet, Eric Person and Ricky Ford on saxophone, and Joan Carles Marí on drums. Later that evening, flamenco-jazz vocalist La Jose performed with guitarist Luis Gallo on the rooftop terrace of The Standard, Ibiza, before the full cast gathered at the Jara Restaurant for a late-night jam through midnight.
Friday's concert moved to The Standard, Ibiza, where the Muriel Grossmann Quartet — the Ibiza-based saxophonist and composer hailed as a leading voice in European spiritual jazz — performed alongside the Ibiza Big Band under the direction of Vicent Tur, in a special programme of original arrangements of Grossmann's work, with Cristina Morales on percussion and Omar Kabir on trumpet.
Saturday brought the NYC-Ibiza Jazz Explosion to The Standard: Ricky Ford, Tal Cohen, Doug Weiss, Eric Person, Omar Kabir, and Marc Miralta on drums in a high-energy celebration of New York jazz tradition meeting the island's energy.
Sunday evening shifted to the ME Hotel in Santa Eulària, where La Jose & Friends — with Tal Cohen, Doug Weiss, Eric Person, Joan Carles Marí, and special guests — delivered a distinctive blend of flamenco, soul, and jazz.
The festival closed on Monday with an intimate duo performance at the ME Hotel: Tal Cohen on keys and Andrés Coll on marimba, bringing the sixth edition to a quietly powerful conclusion.
Beyond the concerts, the 2025 edition reinforced Jazz Point's commitment to education and community, with masterclasses at Can Ventosa offering local musicians and students direct access to some of the world's leading jazz professionals.
