Rising From the Dark

Building on the success of the 2020 debut, the second edition of Jazz Point Ibiza returned in October 2021 with four days of programming across two iconic venues. The festival opened on October 14th with an intimate musical dinner at Pikes Ibiza, featuring the Muriel Grossmann Quartet alongside special guest Alice Zawadzki.

The main programme moved to Can Ventosa in Ibiza Town for two headline nights: October 15th celebrated "The Art of the Trio" with the Pere Bujosa Trio and the Alice Zawadzki Trio, while October 16th turned to "The Art of the Quintet" with the Bill McHenry Quintet (USA) and Ariel Brínguez & Nostalgia Cubana (Cuba). The festival closed on October 17th with a free public concert featuring Speaking of Sounds, a local ensemble connected to the Patronat Municipal de Música d'Eivissa.

Alongside the evening performances, October 16th also hosted a series of masterclasses at Can Ventosa, offering audiences direct access to the visiting artists across vocals, saxophone, Cuban music, upright bass, and percussion.

Once again organised by David Moss and Adam Lenox of Ibiza Music Agency in partnership with Joel Chriss Productions of New York, the 2021 edition reinforced Jazz Point's mission to establish Ibiza as a fixture on the international jazz calendar.
