Born in Santiago de Cuba, with a legacy of his own blood musical background, Maikel Vistel's roots combine for his contemporary, warm and personal sound. A graduate of the prestigious National School of Art in Havana with the title "Instrumentalist - Professor of Saxophone and Practice Set ", was summoned for three years as a teacher in the same institution. Maikel has had great jazz masters as Mark Turner, George Garzon, Joe Lovano, Greg Osby, Roman Filiú, David Virelles, Aruan Ortiz, Gary Thomas, Steve Coleman, among others. In the field of commercial music he has been part of the successful Puerto Rican group Calle 13, winner of 25 Grammy; as saxophonist, arranger and section metals.
